G:link welcomes the arrival of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games

April 4-15 will see the welcomed arrival of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Australia’s most anticipated sporting event is expected to bring more than 6,600 athletes from over 70 competing nations and territories. During the event, we expect our services to have a higher level of demand than usual which may impact the way you normally travel.

Find where you want to go

During the event, walking or cycling short distances could be your quickest way to commute. You may need to use a mixture of public transport and walking when journeying to and from venues, events and Festival 2018 zones. If you plan on riding the G: we recommend that you allow additional time to board our services to ensure you arrive on time.

 Peak times, peak opportunities

During the Games, we will be running additional services including overnight throughout the Games due to increased demand and you should expect some delays when boarding trams or using other transport options.

We recommend you travel during quieter times to avoid delays to your journey. Check in regularly at or follow @getset2018 on twitter for more information on our services, including travelling with us during the Games.

Plan ahead

We recommend you plan your journey in advance to ensure you choose the most suitable means of transportation available to you. During the Games, it may be more convenient to use multiple modes of transport to avoid crowds or delays. It is best to allow additional time and explore all your options early to avoid last-minute stress.
