Planned Works: Lift Installation for Footbridge at Parkwood

16/01/2018

From 28 – 30 January, between the hours of 7pm to last service, buses will replace trams from Helensvale to University Hospital, to facilitate the installation of the lift for the new footbridge at Parkwood station.

In order to conduct this activity, the overhead lines will need to be powered down from University Hospital to Helensvale.

The last in-service tram will leave Helensvale station at 6:44pm on Sunday 28 and 6:43pm on Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 of January 2018. Services will resume like normal at 4:34am, the next day, for normal first service out of Helensvale. The only services that will be affected are those services from Helensvale to University Hospital between 7pm to last service on the 28, 29 and 30 January 2018.

Tram services between Broadbeach South and University Hospital will run to a normal timetable and remain unaffected.

Bus replacement services will run according to the timetable from Helensvale to University Hospital. Due to traffic and routes, please allow a little extra travel time. Bus replacement services will run from the Light Rail Replacement Bus stop, which can be found on the information maps on our station platforms.

The replacement bus stops are indicated by a green bus icon surrounded by a black circle.

The new Parkwood footbridge will create an easier and safer connection from the Parkwood Park n Ride to Parkwood station, and is set to open in February in time for the Commonwealth Games.

Footbridge facts:

  • 44 metre long footbridge
