Now showing at HOTA’s Children’s Gallery until January 28, 2024, Colour Your Imagination – Just add books invites little ones and grown ups to rediscover the magic of libraries and their treasured contents. As part of the exhibition, the Children’s Gallery has transformed into a larger-than-life library, with a colourful collection of giant books to both play and lounge in. The bewitching book-filled space is the brainchild of Gold Coast artist Victoria Reichelt, one of Australia’s leading realist painters.

The exhibition offers a range of interactive activities, with families invited to explore the Never Ending Library wall to take a cheeky pic, curl up in one of the cosy book nooks, flip through the interactive Book of Book Paintings, which showcases Victoria’s remarkable artworks, or even climb the Floating Bookstack. Youngsters can use their imagination to play I Spy in the Library to discover animals hiding in the Children’s Gallery, arrange colourful book spines on the bookshelves, settle in with a book from the reading trolley, create their own artwork for a book title, and much more.

A free exhibition for the whole family, Colour Your Imagination – Just add books is open at the HOTA Children’s Gallery until Sunday 28 January 2024. For more information, head to the HOTA website.
