G:et on board to Burleigh! We are delighted to announce that trams will be operating between Helensvale and Burleigh Heads from Sunday 9 August 2026.
The first tram will depart from Burleigh Heads station at 6am and we can’t wait to have you on board! Trams will be operating every 7.5 minutes from 7am to 7pm to help G:et you around the new network!
Join us as we mark this exciting milestone and celebrate the newest stage of the G: from Broadbeach South station to Burleigh Heads station. Explore the new stations, neighbourhoods, and enjoy a day packed with free family-friendly entertainment, activities and community experiences. The event starts at Broadbeach South station, with activity from 9am to 11am, then the festivities move to the Nobby Beach precinct from 12pm to 2pm, before finishing at Memorial Park in Burleigh Heads from 3pm to 5pm. Giveaways, live music, face painting, balloon animals and live radio broadcasts will all be part of the fun.
Whether you’re hoping on for one stop or travelling the entire new network, it’s just 50 cents a ride. Pay your fare with a go card, credit or debit card, then grab the kids, gather your friends and family, and jump aboard the G: to celebrate the opening of Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 🚋🎉☀️
The G:ood news doesn’t stop there, you asked and we delivered! Trams will now run the full length of the G:link network on weekends. That means no more end of the line at Gold Coast University Hospital on Friday and Saturday nights. You will be able to remain onboard and travel between Helensvale and Burleigh Heads on Friday and Saturday, at any time of the day or night.
Your safety is our priority. When you’re on or around the G:link network please remember to:
- Use the pedestrian crossings — they are at every station and are there for your safety.
- Ditch the distractions — put your phone down and remove your headphones.
- Follow the road rules — obey all traffic signs, signals and pay attention when you’re behind the wheel.
- Tracks are for trams — don’t walk, cycle, drive, stop or park on the tracks.
