Ride the G: to the Gold Coast 500

From Friday 25 October to Sunday 27 October 2024, The Gold Coast 500 will race onto the streets of Main Beach and Surfers Paradise. If you’re travelling to and from the GC500, jump onboard the G:, we’ll be running extra services to G:et you to and from the event.

Extra tram services
On Friday trams will be running every 10 minutes from 7pm to 8pm.

On Saturday trams will be operating every 7.5 minutes from 8am to 4pm, every 6.5 minutes from 4pm to 7.30pm and every 10 minutes from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.

On Sunday, extra services means that trams will be operating every 7.5 minutes from 8am to 6pm and every 10 minutes from 6pm to 8.30pm.

The best stations to access the event are Main Beach and Surfers Paradise North.

Ticketing
Already have a ticket to the GC500? Good news, you G:et to travel for free with your entry ticket. Please make sure you hold your GC500 entry ticket to receive free travel. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, call Translink anytime on 13 12 30.

If you do not have an entry ticket, take advantage of the 50 cent flat fares to G:et to the event. In order to access the 50 cent flat fare you must have a valid ticket, see the ticketing options below.

To note: For those who normally receive free travel, including Vision Impairment Travel Pass, Translink Access Pass and TPI/EDA Travel Pass holders, travel will continue to be free. Children aged five to fourteen can still travel free on weekends using their orange child go card.

Smart Ticketing: You can pay by tapping on and off using a contactless Visa, Mastercard or American Express card, smartphone, or smart watch across the entire G:link network. Please present one card or device per passenger travelling.

go card: Tap your go card to a validator on the station platform at the beginning and end of each trip.

Paper tickets: Paper tickets are available for purchase at all G:link stations. Paper tickets are valid for one way travel only.

Travelling from Brisbane?
If you’re travelling from Brisbane, simply catch the train and transfer to the tram at Helensvale station. Alternatively, if you prefer to drive, you can park the car for free at Parkwood Park ‘n’ Ride and catch the tram from Parkwood station, which is only a short walk across the pedestrian bridge.
