Ride the G: to the Gold Coast 500

From Friday 27 October to Sunday 29 October 2023, The Gold Coast 500 will race onto the streets of Main Beach and Surfers Paradise. If you’re travelling to and from the GC500, jump onboard, because we’ll be running extra services to G:et you to and from the event. When planning your travel, remember that the most convenient stations for the event are the Main Beach and Surfers Paradise North stations.

Extra services on Friday means that trams will be running every 10 minutes from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. On Saturday trams will be operating every 7.5 minutes from 8:00am to 4:00pm, every 6.5 minutes from 4:00pm to 7:30pm and every 10 minutes from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. On Sunday, extra services means that trams will be operating every 7.5 minutes from 8:00am to 6:00pm and every 10 minutes from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.

Ticketing
There will be crowds, so plan both your ticketing and group movements with that in mind. For those who are already in possession of their GC500 ticket, you may travel on the G: for free. Please make sure you hold your GC500 entry ticket to receive free travel. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, call Translink anytime on 13 12 30.

For those who aren’t in possession of a GC500 ticket, you must purchase a ticket before travelling on the G:. Ticketing options include using a go card or if travelling on an adult fare you can also tap on and off using Smart Ticketing. Paper tickets are also available at a fare machine from any station. Travelling from Brisbane?
If you’re travelling from Brisbane, simply catch the train and transfer to the tram at Helensvale station. Alternatively, if you prefer to drive, you can park the car for free at the Parkwood Park ‘n’ Ride and catch the tram from Parkwood station, which is only a short walk across the pedestrian bridge.
