We’re G:etting close to the launch of Stage 3! The testing and commissioning phase for Stage 3 is about to begin, with more trams are travelling along the new alignment to Burleigh Heads and back from 18 June.
What does this mean for you?
- You can’t travel to Burleigh Heads by tram just yet! During the testing and commissioning phase, trams will travel between Broadbeach South and Burleigh Heads in a testing mode, with no customers onboard. Customers wishing to travel to Burleigh Heads still need to disembark and catch the 700/777 bus.
- All customers will need to disembark once the tram arrives at Broadbeach South station. The tram will then switch into its testing mode and continue its journey southbound to Burleigh Heads, with no customers onboard.
- If you wish to travel northbound towards Helensvale, you will need to catch the tram from platform 1 (platform located on the Pacific Fair side). Please use the pedestrian crossing to cross the tracks.
- Broadbeach South station will be become a dual platform station on 18 June and then from 22 June onwards. This means that both the north and southbound tracks will run through the middle, with platforms either side.
- This is the beginning of a new operational timetable. As such, trams may not be at the station at the same time you are currently use to. There may occasionally be short delays as we learn the new timing points. Plan your journey here – https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/journey-planner
- Customer Service staff will be at Broadbeach South station during this testing phase and will be available you need any assistance.
Please do not attempt to access the Stage 3 trams and stations while trams testing occurs for your safety. While stations may look complete, the area remains a construction zone and trams will not carry customers south of Broadbeach South during testing and commissioning. Take care. Be tram aware.
If you have any questions about the testing and commissioning phase and how this will impact you, please speak to our staff at the station, give us a call on 1800 064 928 or email us at [email protected].
