Tram drivers need to be on high alert every day for motorists who take dangerous risks around the G:link network. These risks include performing illegal U-turns, driving on the tram tracks, and running red lights.
Take a look what happens when motorists take unnecessary risks and break the law:
There are instances where the emergency brake needs to be applied, despite the best efforts of our drivers, and this affects everyone onboard.
Your safety is our priority. When you’re driving around the G:link network please remember to:
- Follow the road rules, obey all traffic signs, signals and pay attention when you’re behind the wheel. If everyone follows the rules, we all stay safe!
- Only perform U-turns where they are signed as permitted.
- Never queue across the tram tracks. Wait for the path ahead to clear before driving across the tracks.
- Check your load! Truck drivers must ensure their vehicle load does not come close to the overhead wires.
- Tracks are for trams. Don’t drive, stop or park on the tracks.
Please remember to take care. Be tram aware.
