Join Andrea Huelin, Cairns-based artist and winner of this year’s Archibald Packing Room Prize, in conversation with HOTA Acting Head of Curatorial and Programs Sam Creyton and enjoy High Tea at Palette Restaurant!
Andrea Huelin is a Cairns-based painter who is best known for her portraits and colourful still life paintings. She is interested in colour and form, and capturing elusive qualities of lustre and light with her economical brushwork. From Western Australia originally, Andrea was an ABC radio broadcaster and an arts marketing consultant before she began her professional painting career in 2011. She is represented by Michael Reid Gallery in Sydney and Berlin, and her paintings are included in private and public collections around the world, including the Commonwealth Government’s Artbank Collection. Andrea is the winner of the 2023 Archibald Packing Room Prize with her portrait of comedian Cal Wilson.
