As the sun goes down, get ready to see the Southport skyline explode into a mesmerising array of light, colour and creativity with BIG CITY LIGHTS*. The inaugural festival will be held from July 7-10. It will feature stunning immersive audio-visual experiences, large scale digital works, 3D mapping and unexpected projection sites by artists renowned in their respective fields of light installation, architecture and digital design.
These hypnotic displays are free to enjoy. All you need to do is follow the lights across the Gold Coast CBD, searching for colourful creations and vibrant installations in Nerang Street, Scarborough Street, Young Street, Regent Lane and Davison Lane. Southport will feature five incredible art zones, each hosting displays on rooftops, building facades, alleyways, car parks and shopfronts. Some of the city’s favourite bars and venues will also dip their toes into the creativity, with Mr P.P’s Deli & Rooftop, Vinnie’s Dive Bar and Last Night on Earth hosting key installations and a vibrant line-up of live music acts.
