Part of HOTA’s OUT LOUD Festival, see Jason Phu’s art installation ‘Almighty Dragons of the Four Seas’ from March 6-15.
Exploring human responsibility for climate change, Phu’s installation depicts the four dragon gods of the four seas in China, believed to influence the weather and water systems. Phu’s work is prudent given the current weather conditions and climate change issues affecting Australia and countries around the world.
Jason Phu’s exploration of human responsibility for climate change draws on a multi-disciplinary practice including installation, painting and performance. Recently exhibiting at the Dobell Drawing Biennale in 2018 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, he was also commissioned for the Sydney Opera House 2019 Art Assembly commission along with exhibitions at Chalk Horse and Station Gallery.
