Say hello to Skate Paradise, Paradise Centre’s pop-up school of skate that’s ready to teach grommets some gnarly skills on four wheels from June 29 to July 2. Kids can fasten their helmet and kick off their skating story at a range of free skateboarding clinics hosted by the local crew from Rock ‘N’ Slide Skateboarding, at 11:00 am, 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm daily. Held in the beachfront dining precinct on The Esplanade, these ten-spot classes are suitable for children aged four through to 12, and all equipment is supplied! Bookings are mandatory and open on Thursday June 1 here. Bonus – every workshop participant will receive a free drawstring skate bag, plus an entry into the draw to win one of four Fast Times Skateboarding skateboards. From 12:00–4:00 pm, head up to level one near Zone Bowling and check out the Paradise Parlour, which is full of family-friendly fun. Youngsters can get a temporary tattoo applied and free fairy floss will be on hand for a post-skate treat.

More entertainment awaits at the beachfront dining precinct, which will be coming alive with free breakdancing shows, roving entertainment, DJs, and skate seshes on the mega 7-m x 5-m ramp from 2:00–6:00 pm. After you’ve learned some new moves, get some fresh threads from shops like VansSurf Dive N’ SkiPlatypus ShoesStateside SportsSkechersRip Curl and Fast Times Skateboarding. Those who spend $80 or more on fashion, footwear or jewellery at Paradise Centre can take their receipt to the Skate Paradise desk near Stateside Sports from 12:00–6:00 pm for the chance to win one of ten Fast Times Skateboarding skateboard prize packs. Heck yes!
