We suggest fasting on Wednesday June 28, as you’re going to need a whole lot of room in your stomach for all of the mouth-watering bites you’re going to gobble up at the five-course Cheesemakers Dinner at Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach. The feast will be hosted inside much-loved restaurant Room 81, and will see the venue’s very own Chef YK team up with Woombye Cheese Company’s owner, Beth O’Leary. Chef YK has curated eight sumptuous dishes, highlighting the vast variety of the award-winning Woombye Cheese Company collection, while Beth is on board to talk all things cheese during the evening.

The menu kicks off with freshly baked bread and butter, followed by a range of canapes like hand-rolled cheese crackers with triple-cream fondue, ash rind flan with Stanthorpe apple salad and triple-cream tea with Stanthorpe apple. Next up is a vintage cheddar and celeriac gnocchi with king brown mushroom dashi. Also gracing the menu is a Tasmanian salmon roulade with camembert mornay and cucumber-and-citrus gel, and a bouef de wagyu, with pan-seared wagyu sirloin, gratin Blackall gold washed rind and mustard cress. Dessert comes in the form of a gateaux au fromage (coconut-and-lemon goats curd, bitter chocolate and yuzu pearls). Room 81’s in-house sommelier has perfectly paired wines to each course, ensuring your whistle will be sufficiently wet throughout the flavour-packed night.
